If you follow us over on our DogTipper site, you’ll know that our dogs both wear GPS units on their collars. The units give us peace of mind in case they should ever get out of our yard without us or get away from us when we’re traveling. The GPS unit can be tracked using a smartphone so you can easily see where a lost pet is located. In the past month, we’ve been testing out several different GPS units made for dogs.
But most units are too large for cats–but now we’re seeing several new units on the market specifically for cats. The smaller, lightweight units are designed to fit on your cat’s collar.
Would your cat wear a GPS unit? Our cats don’t go outside — and don’t wear collars — so we won’t be testing units firsthand but we wanted to pass along word of these GPS products.
POD
Created by a pet parent who lost his beloved cat, the Pod is based in Australia. After a Kickstarter that raised $150,000, the unit was put into production and the company has spread beyond Australia.
According to Pod: “Pod has been engineered to be the smallest & lightest real-time GPS pet tracker in the world. Its unique barrel design has been created to be as comfortable on your animal as possible and our custom strapping mechanism allows your Pod to fit collars of all shapes and sizes.” For more information, visit Pod.
