Macy’s Union Square Helps Pets in Need with Holiday Windows

“All I Want for Christmas is You.” More than just the title of Mariah Carey’s contemporary classic, the words also represent the collective wish of adoptable cats and dogs who are hoping to receive the gift of a loving pet parent this holiday season.

Helping to transform the dreams of our pals who meow and our buddies who bark from reverie into reality, Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco has once again transformed the iconic store’s window displays into windows of opportunity to adopt an adorable cat, kitten, puppy or dog.

Partnering with the San Francisco SPCA and San Francisco Animal Care & Control, the event is celebrating its 33nd year in 2019. Since its start, close to 10,000 companion animals have found their special someone to love thanks to Macy’s Union Square’s Holiday Windows!

Free to attend, the Holiday Windows unveiling will take place November 22nd at 5 p.m. at Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco.

Special Events

Along with the annual holiday window unveiling, Macy’s Union Square and the San Francisco SPCA have made a list (and checked it twice!) of festive feline and Fido-themed fun:

December 5

Give a four-legged love bug a hug during The Cuddle Experience, taking place in Macy’s Holiday Lane. For a $10 donation fans of felines and devotees of dogs can enjoy a 10 minute cuddle session. (From 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on November 16th and from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. through November 2th, with the exception of Thanksgiving day. )

December 12 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Santa Paws is coming to town! Pet parents and their four-legged friends can meet and pose for a souvenir snapshot with the jolly old elf, and a portion of the proceeds will also benefit the San Francisco Animal Care and Control. There will also be a visit by Santa Paws at the San Francisco SPCA Pacific Heights campus on December 14th, from 1 .p.m. – 4 p.m. with proceeds benefiting SF SPCA. (Tickets $20)

Watch Adoptables at Holiday Windows ONLINE!

Is The City By the Bay too far away from your hometown? You can still be a virtual visitor at the merry Macy’s event by watching the line up of cuddly cats and dogs online thanks to several streaming videos. You can also help to make the season bright for an adoptable pet who is looking for a forever home by making an online donation to the SF SPCA, which has been giving our furry friends a new lease on life since 1868.

Volunteering at Macy’s Union Square’s Holiday Windows Event

San Franciscans are invited to get into the spirit of the season by giving the gift of their time to the paws cause. Volunteers will once again play a vital role in making the holidays the most wonderful time of the year for cats and dogs in need as they greet the public, take donations for the San Francisco SPCA, and direct potential pet parents to the SF SPCA adoption center inside Macy’s Union Square. Last year during the holiday windows event volunteers helped over 200 kittens, cats, dogs and puppies receive the gift of a forever family!
