Back in the summer of 2015 reported sightings of a lion roaming the streets of Milwaukee captured the nation’s attention. While it may never be known if the big cat was real or just a tall “tail”, Milwaukeeans can now easily catch sight of “house panthers” and “tiny tigers” at the Milwaukee’s first cat cafe, Sip & Purr.
The Cats of Sip & Purr
Who are the clowder of 10 – 15 kitties who are lapping up the milk of human kindness in their very own section of Sip & Purr, which opened its doors earlier this summer?
All of the fortunate felines are adoptables from Lakeland Animal Shelter, a non-profit in Delavan, Wisconsin which takes in more than 3,000 companion animals in need each year.
The 411 for Foodies
As adoptables enjoy a taste of the good life in their own kitty quarters, cat-loving customers can order tasty treats in the venue’s cafe area.
The menu (which features many vegan and/or gluten free items!) includes such meowvelous noms as Bourbon buttermilk peach coffee cake, mango ginger cheesecake, pistachio shortbread with lemon curd and whipped cream cheese, salted caramel pecan brownies, a warm brie tart and the house salad.
Patrons can wash down the mouth-watering morsels with their choice of coffee, tea, organic cold-pressed juice, sodas, beer, wine or a mixed drink.
Fun with Felines
Along with drinking in the heart-warming sight of cuddly kitties at play in the cafe’s cat lounge, Sip & Purr patrons can also sign up to perfect their downward dog pose with the help of a four-pawed partner during a Yoga with Cats session; take part in a family-friendly edition of Drag Bingo with Cats; and the cafe’s meowing menagerie will play matchmaker for attendees 21 and over at a Single Mingle with Cats!
Location of Sip & Purr
Sip & Purr Cat Cafe is located next to the open-air mural art gallery Black Cat Alley, at 2021 East Ivanhoe Place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
