An Italian term which loosely translates into “crazy cat lady” may have conjured up stereotypical images at one time, but today friends of felines have taken back the cat lady label. Originally in the city of Tempe and now in Phoenix, “La Gattara” translates into feline-themed fun for cat lovers at Arizona’s first cat cafe.
The Cats of La Gattara Cat Cafe and Wine Bar
After drinking a refreshing beverage while drinking in the cafe’s feline-inspired atmosphere, customers can feast their eyes on an array of adorable adoptables in their special kitty quarters.
For an admission fee, visitors can make friends with approximately 10 – 20 cats during an hour-long stay in the purring pack’s playroom. All of the cats — each spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-wormed and tested for FeL/FIV — will come from area rescue organizations.
The cafe’s current clowder of kitties come from Lost Our Home Pet Rescue, a no-kill organization which has helped both pets and people in need since its start in 2008.
Activities
Along with meeting cuddly kitties, patrons can also take part in a variety of activities with a feline friend from the cat cafe.
You can let a kitty companion help you purrfect your Downward Dog during a Yoga with Cats session; spend the night before Caturday watching a meowvie with cats; tap into your inner PiCATsso at a Paint & Cats event, attend a feline-themed fine art show, and more!
