UPDATE: The Moon Cat Cafe is permanently closed. For more cat cafes, see our Cat Cafe Directory.
A vehicle for change, the world’s first mobile cat cafe is helping to put adoptable cats on the road to finding forever families to love.
Since December 2016, Moon Cat Cafe has been a movable feast for both foodies and fans of felines in the Los Angeles County area. Housed in a step van, up to six kitty-loving customers can visit the van at any given time. Entry is free to the merchandise area, where patrons can purchase a plethora of products created by independent artists who have found their muse in models who meow, and order a tasty pastry and a cup of java.
For a fee, a visitor receives a choice of one complimentary cup of hot gourmet coffee, a cold brew bottled coffee or a bottle of Voss water, one free pastry, a complimentary Moon Cat Cafe reusable coaster and entry into the van’s special kitty quarters, a glassed-in area filled with furniture for felines and their guests.
All of the adorable adoptables who lap up patrons’ attention are from the cafe’s partner rescue organizations, who have a volunteer on the van to help any potential pet parents. Cats from the following L.A.-based non-profits have found loving homes thanks to the mobile cat cafe: The Cat Cove, FIX Long Beach, Foreverhome Pet Rescue, Helen Sanders Cat PAWS, Kitty Bungalow, The Little Lion Foundation, luxe paws, MeoowzResQ, Milo’s Sanctuary, San Gabriel Valley Animal Advocates, Second Chance Pet Adoptions, Zazzy Cats Kitten Rescue and Zoey’s Place.
Moon Cat Cafe donates a portion of the proceeds from each adoption event to that weekend’s participating rescue organization.
Check out Moon Cat Cafe‘s calendar to find out where the mobile cat cafe will be next!
NOTE: The cafe has a first-come, first served policy. Children are allowed in the cat area, but must be closely monitored by an adult guardian. When taking snapshots of adoptables visitors are asked to refrain from using flash photography.
