UPDATE: The Cat Lounge has permanently closed. For more cat cafes, please see our Cat Cafe Directory.
Due to its many yacht marinas Auckland, New Zealand has been called “The City of Sails,” but ever since New Zealand’s first cat cafe opened its doors in November 2015 fans of felines might find themselves tempted to call the Auckland suburb of Glenfield “The City of Tails.”
Cat Cafe Food and Drink
Foodies at The Cat Lounge can feast on tasty treats (including vegan and vegetarian options and gluten and dairy free dishes) while cat-loving customers can feast their eyes on approximately 20 cats and kittens in the cafe’s separate kitty quarters.
For a fee , patrons can meet a meowing menagerie especially chosen for their mellow mood. Unlike many cat cafes, at The Cat Lounge visitors are allowed to pick up and pet their new purring pals.
While the kitties at The Cat Lounge have made the cafe their purr-manent residence, advertisements for adorable adoptable from The Lonely Miaow can also be seen by customers. Based in Auckland, the non-profit organization rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes the area’s stray and abandoned kitties.
Open every day but Monday, The Cat Lounge is located at 173a Archers Road in Glenfield, New Zealand.
NOTE: Visitors of The Cat Lounge should arrive 5 – 10 minutes before their session time. A booked spot may be given to someone else if the person who has booked a time has not arrived by 10 minutes past the start of their appointed session.
