As cat lovers, we all know that cats are attracted to computers…a LOT. Until I got my flat screen, this was Coco’s favorite perch:
That was all well and good until that computer died in what I sadly call the crash of 2011. Just a couple of weeks before the holidays, the computer (a Mac) died. Without warning.
And without backup.
Yes, I know…and I’ve written about…the importance of backing up your files. So I had an OLD backup. And fortunately a lot of our writing is online anyway so that material was on the server.
But I had no backup of my email. None.
Santa brought me a new computer but let’s just say that trying to track down email addresses is NO way to spend your holiday. We sent off the dead Mac to see if the hard drive could be restored but we had no luck.
Even now, I’m not as good about backing up my computer as I should be…and apparently I’m not alone. A recent survey by SurDoc.com showed that only nine percent of cat owners back up their computers daily.
SurDoc sent us this fun infographic about cats and computers, an important reminder to BACK UP your work!
