Cleaning Cat Products with Baking Soda

We love using baking soda to clean pet products and the areas where our cats hang out. It’s safe to use around all our pets, it’s easy to find in the store, and it’s cheap. (If you’re looking for baking soda coupons, visit www.armandhammer.com).

Here are a few easy ways to use baking soda to clean your cat’s areas:

  • Bedding. Vacuum your cat’s thoroughly. Most cat beds have removable, washable fabric covers, so launder them along with any pet blankets. Between washings, keep them smelling fresh by by sprinkling liberally with baking soda, waiting 15 minutes, then vacuuming it up.
  • Cat Toys. Your cat’s plastic and rubber toys can be washed in a solution of 4 tablespoons baking soda dissolved in 1 quart warm water. Launder plush toys, or give them a dry shower by sprinkling on some baking soda, then brushing off after 15 minutes.
  • Litter Box. Many cat lovers sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda in the bottom of your cat’s litter box before adding litter to absorb odors.
