Are you worried about bugs getting in your cat’s food? The SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl is designed to automatically open and close as your cat walks up (no microchip required), protecting the food from insects. We gave it a try!
Let’s talk about summer bugs…
Living in the country, insects are a fact of life around our home, especially when it comes to the summer months.
We never use any pesticides of any sort, relying on beneficial nematodes and other natural methods to keep the numbers of at least some pests down in a natural, organic way. (Part of our land is a preserve for the Golden-cheeked Warbler so we’re very conscientious about keeping everyone healthy.)
As much as we try, the bugs generally find their way into our home when the weather is at its hottest. Ants are our number one problem, drawn into the house by bits of food and the prospect of water.
With that struggle, I was very interested to try the SureFeed® Sealed Pet Bowl, created by SureFlap. The cat bowl uses motion detection to automatically open on approach of your cat.
No special tags or microchip is needed–just your cat’s movement toward the bowl.
We give SureFeed a Try with Our Cats
SureFeed has a special training setting that I’m using with Inca and Coco–but Lucky is fearless.
As soon as I had four C batteries in place and the SureFeed on the counter, Lucky was ready to explore.
When he walked up to the SureFeed, it opened upon detecting him.
Ahh, a toy. He decided to check it out.
At one point, he decided if he couldn’t figure out what was causing that movement, he’d just bite it…
But within a few minutes, Lucky recognized SureFeed for what it was: a great bowl that would protect his food (wet or dry) from bugs and, at the same time, help keep it fresh between feedings.
Along with protecting the food from insects, I’ve also found another benefit with wet food: it reduces cat food odors!
The bowl closes shortly after your cat walks away, sealing up the odors as it does so.
The SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl includes a removable bowl (in gray, as above; bright colors are also available for purchase).
You’ll need to add four C batteries which should last about six months with normal use. As I mentioned, the bowl has a training setting to help your cat adjust to the motion.
A big paws up for the SureFeed Sealed Pet bowl for helping to keep our cats’ food fresh!
We received the SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl for review; as always, we only share products that we use with our own cats. All statements and opinions are entirely our own.
