We dispense cat treats…a LOT. We use treats to reinforce good behaviors, whether that’s when Inca stops scratching on the door facing when asked or when Felix takes his pill without a fuss. All of our cats enjoy treats and we feel that, by sharing special treats with them, we also deepen our bond with each of these furry family members.
But we’re surprised to learn that many people do not regularly share treats with their cats. Besides just not thinking about the joy (and the training potential) that treats can bring, one reason may be because of worries that treats are perhaps unhealthy, like handing out candy bars to children.
However, treats can be as healthy as foods…you just have to know what to look for when shopping! For the past month, we’ve been telling you about Hill’s® Ideal Balance™ cat foods; they also offer healthy cat treats in the line. Hill’s® Ideal Balance™ Crunchy Naturals with Real Tuna cat treats are all-natural treats made with…you guessed it… real Tuna. Like the line of food itself, these treats are grain-free with no corn, wheat, soy, added artificial preservatives, colors or flavors.
Some pet parents also have concerns about the quality of treats. Hill’s Ideal Balance treats are manufactured in the USA using high-quality ingredients, most sourced in the U.S. All the meat and poultry in the treats is from USDA-inspected facilities. Especially important, if you keep an eye on the all-too-frequent recalls: Hill’s has zero tolerance for Salmonella. You know that you won’t have to worry about Salmonella with these quality treats.
