Product: KONG Catnip Spray
What It Is: spray made with catnip oil and distilled water
Manufacturer: KONG Company; made in USA
CatTipper Review: KONG may be best known for their innovative dog toys and feeding products, but this Colorado-based company also manufactures products for cats. Recently we purchased the KONG Catnip Spray, a one-ounce bottle of spray created using oil steam-distilled from catnip grown in North America.
Our cats love catnip…and sometimes they love it a little too much. They have a tendency to get a little crazy with it, tearing into toys that contain dried catnip and spreading it everywhere (accompanied by plenty of drooling on the sprinkled catnip and, usually, a swat or two as others try to share in the treasure trove.)
When we saw the KONG Catnip Spray, we decided to give it a try to help alleviate the problem of catnip strewn around the house. Designed to be used on cat condos, scratching pads and posts, teasers, and other accessories that just can’t contain dried catnip, the spray is also good for spraying on your cat’s toys to regenerate interest.
We gave it a try on some of our cats’ favorite toys and one favorite pillow. It was a instant hit. Our four cats, who had been both upstairs and downstairs throughout the house, suddenly appeared from out of nowhere, ready to give the sprayed toys a test.
One thing we did notice is that their interest waned after a few hours, a little sooner that it typically does when we used dried catnip…and that’s a good thing. Whether the difference was that we didn’t spray an equivalent amount when compared to the dried catnip or whether the scent dissipates faster, the result was a plus for us. There were no fights, no incidents of cat crazies, just a few hours of enjoyment with a newly-scented toy.
A big paws up for KONG Catnip Spray!
