Catdance Film Festival Shines Light on Shelter Cats

Actress Hannah Simone, a star of the hit Fox sitcom New Girl, helped to shine a spotlight on talented tabbies and Siamese with star qualities when she stepped into the role of host of an annual ode to mini-meowvies.

For the fourth year a clowder of cat enthusiasts converged on Park City, Utah for the Catdance Film Festival, which took place on January 23rd. The TV star introduced fans of film and felines to the clips that made the final cut, and presented the 2016 Golden Litter Scoop and $25,000 purrize to Mike Thompson for his salute to silent cinema, “The Purfect Patsy.”

Offering animal lovers sustenance for the soul, the video features a Chaplin-esque figure (played by Gregory Popovich) sitting down for a snack, only to find that his food keeps mysteriously disappearing:

Shelter Cats Lap Up the Limelight at Catdance

Shelter cats took center stage at the iconic feline-inspired festival, with cat devotees getting the chance to envision what it’s like to walk in the paw prints of our purring pals without forever homes. Donning virtual reality goggles, animal lovers looked at life through a shelter cat’s eyes as a kitty watches potential pet parents pass by, and as a cat finally sets eyes on a new forever family.
