It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on The Hallmark Channel, with the cable network celebrating the season with 12 new, original festive flicks…and among them is a present for those with a love for our purring pals.
Based on the novel by author Sheila Roberts, The Nine Lives of Christmas tells the tale of Zachary Stone, a fireman whose fear of commitment begins to crumble when he lets a stray tabby cat called Ambrose into his home. Thanks to guidance from veterinary student Marilee, Zachary learns not only to care for his four-legged friend, but also to open his heart to love.
Starring Brandon Routh of Superman Returns fame, Gregory Harrison (Trapper John M.D.) and Kimberly Sustad (from the Hallmark Channel movies A Bride for Christmas and Spookville), The Nine Lives of Christmas is just one of the many Hallmark Channel original movies which has promoted the option of pet adoption. Doggedly determined to help companion animals in need, in 2012 the network– in partnership with PetSmart Charities and the American Humane Association– launched Pet Project, an evergreen initiative which shines a spotlight on the subject of adoption through grass roots events, positive programming (including the Hero Dog Awards and Kitten Bowl), and through PSAs which star The Hallmark Channel’s roster of animal-loving luminaries.
The Nine Lives of Christmas airs November 8th at 8/7c as part of The Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas. If you miss the movie’s premiere, the network will re-broadcast the program throughout the holiday season.
