It’s Lucky here! I’ve asked to talk with you directly today in a guest post so that I can remind you of a very important event coming to a close in a few days: #AdoptaCatMonth.
Over on DogTipper, you might have read about adopting a cat in a dog household. I think, however, that post only told half the story. For the real scoop on cat adoption, you should ask a cat, right?
In case you don’t remember, I came into the picture on Valentine’s Day of this year. Before my adoption, I was in the care of a great organization called Austin Pets Alive! They’d rescued me from another Texas shelter that, sadly, was too full. Before that, I think I lived on the streets but I’m not too clear on that. I was just a little kitten then, you know.
I first came to my home with an upper respiratory infection but I didn’t let that slow me down. Other than a day away for neutering, I’ve been going full speed since my paws hit the ground here. I’ve made more than friends; I’ve made a family. I have one cat big brother, two cat sisters, and two giant dog sisters. They all love me (of course).
I quickly learned my name and the endless string of nicknames they seem to want to give me. Dude. Monkey. Junior. The Wiggley Bigley. I answer to them all.
I have put many, many toys to the test, from scratchers to wand toys. I have destroyed some. It is all part of my toy-testing job.
I don’t want to brag, but you may have seen me on the Tuesday Morning home page with my sister, Tiki…
…and on the Skype blog…
I’m pretty sure I may be famous.
But what matters to me isn’t fame…but family. Life in the shelters is not fun. Life with a family is fun.
If you or someone you know is looking for a cat or kitten, please ask them to consider adoption. June is #AdoptaCatMonth but, let’s be honest: millions of shelter cats need a home EVERY month. I met many nice cats in my stint in two shelters, big ones and small ones, fluffy ones and purebred ones, too. I know you’ll find just what you’re looking for in your local shelter if you just start the search!
