Simon’s Cat Creator Shines Spotlight on Less Adoptable Cats

BUYJsWoCQAAzkTfSimon Tofield is known for tickling our funny bones through the illustrated antics of his cartoon kitty, but now the creator of Simon’s Cat has also touched the hearts of his feline-loving fans by helping to draw attention to adorable adoptables who have a difficult time finding forever homes.

A patron of Stray Cat Rescue, Tofield recently paid a visit to the Bedfordshire, England-based charity (where he adopted two of his four cats) to raise awareness of the organization’s Sponsor A Cat Scheme.

As two of the members of his fur family are black cats, (who are often the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized in shelters), Tofield knows of the need to help the cats who will likely remain at the rescue for the rest of their lives due to age, health status, behavioral issues or because of the color of their fur. Sponsors will receive a photo and information about the cat they choose to help; a personalized certificate; a biannual newsletter with updates about their cat; a Christmas card from Stray Cat Rescue and the opportunity to meet their cat during Sponsor Days.

A high-profile pal to those with paws on both sides of the pond, on his website Simon Tofield also reminded American animal lovers about Petfinder.com‘s annual Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet week.
