Maria Conchita Alonso Adopts Cat at NKLA Adoption Weekend

MariaActress Maria Conchita Alonso, who has starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Running Man and Robert Duvall in Colors, has taken on a new role– that of a proud pet parent to a cat in need.

The three-time Grammy-nominated singer fell in love with her new feline friend as she helped adorable adoptables find forever homes at the second NKLA Adoption Weekend– a two-day event held at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles on November 9th and 10th which featured homeless dogs, cats, kittens and puppies from more than 40 Los Angeles-area shelters and rescue organizations.

Named Bella by her new movie star Mom, the beautiful black cat was one of 396 companion animals who found forever families at the “Super Adoption” event.

Maria Conchita Alonso was one of many animal-loving luminaries who showed their support for NKLA Adoption Weekend. Charlotte Ross (NYPD Blue, Glee); Miguel Ferrer (NCIS: Los Angeles); Maggie Q (Nikita) and Cat Whisperer Mieshelle Nagelschneider were also on hand to promote the option of adoption.

NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) is a Best Friends Animal Society initiative which is working toward an end to the euthanization of healthy and treatable pets in L.A. city shelters by 2017.
