Does your pet have a pal? We love watching the interaction of our four cats and two dogs (especially when they don’t know we’re watching!) It’s just fascinating to see the different relationships between the individuals; there really is a distinct relationship between each member of our pet family.
To help encourage more people to recognize the joy of having multiple pets, the American Pet Products Association (APPA), through their non-profit campaign Pets Add Life (PAL), has officially declared November 19 as National Get A Pal For Your Pet Day. The day is designed to encourage pet parents to consider adopting additional furry, winged and/or finned family members.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have a dedicated, national holiday to educate and encourage multiple pet ownership,” said APPA President Bob Vetere. “Pets Add Life is about promoting the many joys and benefits of responsible pet ownership, and we are finding more and more that multiple pet ownership is not only better for pets, but better for their families in general. Our pets need friends, and there are so many great pets out there needing a good home.”
Lately, we’ve been thinking about adding an aquarium to our home! We had an aquarium for many years (in happy harmony with our cats, thanks to a secure top). None of our present cats have lived with an aquarium, though.
We wanted to ask you: does anyone have an aquarium in their home with their cats? Do your cats enjoy it? Do the fish seem OK with the cats? (Our previous generation of cats didn’t get too close to the aquarium and the fish didn’t seem to notice the nearby felines…) We’d love to know!
