National White Cat Day

Share with fellow cat lovers!

Just as the color white is often seen as a symbol of purity, in the eyes of cat lovers kitties with white coats symbolize pure love.  Felines with snow-shaded fur are so beloved that they are celebrated with their own pet holiday: National White Cat Day!

National White Cat Day takes place annually on September 5.

White Cat Trivia

To mark the occasion, we’ve found a few interesting facts about white cats!

Did you know that some believe that if a man sees a white cat on his wedding day, it is an omen that the man will be fortunate as long as he keeps the cat? Over the years there have been many white cat superstitions

According to a report by Cornell University, an estimated 17 to 22 percent of white cats who do not have blue eyes are deaf, while 65 to 85 percent of white cats with blue peepers are unable to hear.

Did you know that cats can get sunburned, and that white cats are the most susceptible to the sun’s rays?

White cats are believed by some to be lucky, and thankfully that can be the case when a cat with a white coat arrives at an animal shelter.  Statistics indicate that white cats are the least likely to be euthanized and have the best chance of being adopted.
