Hooray…we’ve got some really great news to share! We’ve learned that we were selected as the winner of a $500 donation to the cat-related non-profit of our choice! The donation was the result of our participation in the National Hairball Awareness Day promotion with FURminator and Romeo The Cat. (We created the Hairy Potter from all the cat hair we collected from our four!)
One of the 25 bloggers participating in event was to win the $500 donation…and it’s us! We’re so proud to be able to donate this money to the Humane Society of Williamson County, our local shelter! We adopted our beautiful black cat Inca from this no-kill shelter!
The Humane Society of Williamson County has a really nice area for its cats as they await their forever homes. The cats are housed in what used to be a brick home. (The 22-acre property has the home, which includes the cats and offices, and a former horse barn and new addition for dog kennels.) The cat room features windows for each of the cats:
…and a few at a time get outside to enjoy the “catio”…
The shelter is very active with fundraisers in our community (last month we were out their for their Strut Your Mutt festival, when these photos were taken.) They’ve had a tough year; last year as they were hurrying to complete a large heated building for their dogs before cold weather hit, their water well pump went out and had to be replaced. They were really scrambling for funding. We’re so happy for them to receive this donation!
Many thanks to FURminator and Caroline of Romeo the Cat for organizing this great event!
