A feline’s faithful nature toward her human family was honored recently with a Hero Cat Award at Cats Protection’s National Cat Awards.
When Charley, a cat who lives in Haltwhistle, Northumberland, found his diabetic guardian Susan Marsh-Armstrong collapsed in a bathroom after a hypoglycemic attack, her sixth sense sounded the alarm. Racing into her pet parents’ bedroom, the fast-thinking feline persistently patted her human father on the face until he woke up, then proceeded to lead him to the bathroom where Susan lay unconscious.
Charley’s Moew-my received the award on her behalf from model Lucy Pinder, who served as the judge in the Hero Cat category. A pet parent to multiple purring pals, Ms. Pinder is a longtime Cats Protection supporter who has raised funds for the organization through its annual Celebrity Paws Ebay auction and by rolling up her sleeves to help with daily duties at the non-profit’s North London adoption center during Volunteers Week.
Since its start in 1927, Cats Protection has become the UK’s leading feline welfare charity, providing a safe haven for approximately 230,000 homeless cats and kittens each year.
