Celebrating 30 years of devotion to the promotion of pet adoption, this holiday season the iconic Macy’s department store in San Francisco will once again transform its display windows into windows of opportunity for cats and dogs who dream of receiving one special present: a future with a forever family.

On November 18th at 5 p.m., cat lovers (and dog lovers) are invited to gather outside of Macy’s Union Square on the corner of Stockton and O’Farrell Streets as Top Chef: Just Desserts winner (and SF SPCA supporter) Yigit Pura hosts the heart-warming event. The festivities will include toe-tapping holiday hits performed by the De Marillac Academy Choir prior to the unveiling of some of San Francisco SPCA’s adorable adoptables. This year’s Holiday Windows will be bedecked to reflect Macy’s “Believe” campaign.

The 2015 holiday season turned out to be, in the words of the Christmas classic, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” for the San Francisco SPCA thanks to the annual event, with 216 cats and canines adopted, and more than $88,000 raised in donations to aid its life-saving programs. Since the start of the adoptable Holiday Windows displays three decades ago, over 8,800 companion animals in need have discovered that there’s no place like home for the holidays.

Volunteering at Macy’s Union Square’s Holiday Windows

San Franciscans can give the gift of their time to the paws cause by volunteering to greet the public, taking donations for the SF SPCA and directing potential pet parents to the SF SPCA adoption center located inside Macy’s Union Square. No training is necessary for the two-hour shifts, and groups– as well as children with their parents– can volunteer together.

Holiday Adoptions at SF SPCA Adoption Centers

Animal lovers in the area who are unable to make it to Macy’s are invited to meet adoptables at SF SPCA’s adoption centers at the Mission at 250 Florida Street, or in Pacific Heights at 2343 Fillmore Street, where adoption fees will be waived for adult cats age six months and older.

Watch Adoptables at Holiday Windows Online!

Is The City By the Bay too far away from your hometown? You can still be a virtual visitor at the merry Macy’s event by watching the line up of cuddly cats and dogs online thanks to several streaming videos. You can also help to make the season bright for an adoptable pet who is looking for a forever home by making an online donation to the SF SPCA, which has been giving our furry friends a new lease on life since 1868.
