She’s starred in such silver screen hits as Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral, but on Thanksgiving Day actress Andie MacDowell happily took on a supporting role as she volunteered at the Ulster County SPCA.
During her three-hour stay at the Kingston, New York facility, the Hudson Valley News Network reports that the star– who can currently be seen on the popular Hallmark Channel series Cedar Cove— bathed some of her new barking buddies, took Spots on strolls, and visited cats who are hoping to land a starring role in the lives of loving pet parents.
A famous friend to all creatures great and small, earlier this year Andie MacDowell– who often shares animal stories and photos with fans via Twitter– was among the notables who called for a veto on North Carolina’s ag-gag bill, which would have stopped those with concerns from shining a light on animal abuse at factory farms.
Helping companion animals and farm animals in need since 1891, The Ulster County SPCA cares for close to 200 cats and kittens, and more than 35 dogs and puppies, on any given day.
