Plush Animal Lovers Day is an annual observance dedicated to those soft, cuddly companions that have been with many of us since childhood–or, in our cat’s case, since kittenhood. On this day, we celebrate not just the plush animals themselves, but the joy, solace, and warmth they bring.
When is Plush Animal Lovers Day?
In celebration of both our own cherished cuddly toys from childhood and the stuffed sidekicks that bring joy to our four-legged friends, October 28 is celebrated every year as Plush Animal Lovers Day.
How to Celebrate
Celebrating Plush Animal Lovers Day with your feline friend can be a delightful experience that strengthens your bond and indulges in the playful nature of cats. Here are some ways you can mark the day with your kitty:
- Interactive Plush Toys: Get your cat a new plush toy designed specifically for felines.
- Storytime: Find a comfy spot, gather some of your favorite plush animals, and have a storytime session with your cat. Your cat might just enjoy the calm time and your soothing voice.
- Photoshoot: Set up a cute photoshoot with your cat and their plush toys. Use props, dress them up, or create a fun scene. Share the photos on social media to celebrate the day.
- Plush Toy Hunt: Hide plush toys around your home and encourage your cat to “hunt” them. This can be a fun and stimulating game for your cat.
- DIY Cat Plush: Craft a simple plush toy for your cat using soft fabric and filling it with catnip. Your cat will appreciate the custom-made gift.
- Plush Bed: Treat your cat to a plush, soft bed if you haven’t already. The cozy texture might make it their new favorite resting spot.
- Memory Lane: If your cat has a favorite plush toy they’ve had for years, take some time to play with it. It’s a nice way to reminisce about the days when your cat was a kitten.
- Donations: In the spirit of the day, consider donating soft toys or blankets to animal shelters. While it’s more for the human’s satisfaction than the cat’s, it’s a beautiful gesture of love and care.
Remember, while the idea is to celebrate Plush Animal Lovers Day, it’s essential to ensure that any toy or plush given to your cat is safe. Always supervise play, and be cautious of any small parts or components that could be chewed off and swallowed.
Our Plush Animal Lover
Spayed many years ago, it’s been a long time since former feral cat Mama has had kittens to care for. Undaunted, today Mama remains true to both her name and nurturing nature by lavishing maternal love not only on her human family and her feline siblings, but also on a plethora of plush toys.
Daintily grasping her large toy mouse by the scruff of its neck, Mama happily meows as she parades her faux fur baby through the house. Making her way to the living room, where she has already deposited a catnip monkey and a tiny teddy, she contentedly curls up with her makeshift litter for an afternoon of grooming and snoozing in the warmth of a sun puddle.
