Fur Family Arts Festival Celebrates Cats, Dogs

Fur Family
Fredericksburg, Virginia is known as “America’s Most Historic City,” and this fall fans of both Fidos and felines can be a part of animal-themed history as they show their dogged devotion for their cat and canine companions at a bi-petual party for a paws cause, the first-ever Fur Family Arts Festival.

Taking place at Riverfront Park, the Fur Family Arts Festival will be two days filled with tail-wagging fun:

  • A free evening of feline-themed entertainment, join the clowder of cat lovers who will gather on October 17th for a viewing of the world-famous Internet Cat Video Festival film!
  • Get a smooch from a pooch at a kissing booth.
  • Pet experts Arden Moore, Kate Benjamin, Ingrid King and Robin Schwartz will sign copies of their books.
  • The work of Seth Casteel (Underwater Dogs), Robin Schwartz (Amelia and The Animals) and Bob Walker–famous photographers who have captured the beauty of our four-legged buddies with their camera– will be on display. An opening reception will take place on October 16th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Oddbox Studios, located at 526-1 Wolfe Street.
  • Check out the hippest apparel for pups and our pals who purr and cheer for pet parents who will strut in style dressed like their couture-conscious canine or cat at the Fashion Fun Awards Show.
  • Regardless of whether you can attend the festival, you can help adorable adoptables at the Fredericksburg SPCA by entering the Woofs & Purrs Photo Awards contest, which will be judged by cat lifestyle expert Kate Benjamin, Arden Moore from Pet Life Radio’s Oh Behave Show, pet expert/author Amy Shojai, and award-winning photographer/author Bob Walker. Entry fee is a $5 donation to the Fredericksburg SPCA for each upload; $1 for each vote cast for a favorite photo.
  • Potential pet parents can meet adoptable dogs and cats who are dreaming of the day when they will be part of a forever family’s portrait.

…and much more!

A happening with a lot of heart, as the event raises people’s spirits it will also help to raise funds for the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA, a no-kill humane organization.
