#BestFriendsLA Launches Campaign for New Kitten Nursery

BestFriends
National Kitten Day is Friday, and as we as cat enthusiasts collectively celebrate our pint-sized pals who purr we can also be guardian angels for tiny fur babies in need in The City of Angels.

In 2014, more than 4,800 kittens in their first weeks of life faced their fate in Los Angeles animal shelters– that’s 61 percent of the companion animals euthanized in the city’s shelter system that year. Striving to change the sad statistic, Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles is raising awareness about the plight of pet overpopulation while raising funds for a new kitten nursery which would save 4,400 additional lives.

Friends of felines in the immediate area can lend a helping hand to the paws cause by giving the gift of their time as one of the dedicated volunteers who clean the cages, get kitties accustomed to people, and make sure that the neonatal babies enjoy nutritious noms by preparing food and bottle feeding.

Animal lovers outside the L.A. area can also help Best Friends’ mission to make L.A. a no-kill city by making a contribution to the ‘kitty’ for the creation of a new, life-saving kitten nursery.
