Billy Corgan Adopts Two Rescue Kittens

CorganSmashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has put a song in the hearts of his cat-loving fans by making the announcement that two rescue kittens have taken center stage in his heart and home.

One way to honor the life of a late pet is to offer a new start in life to a companion animal in need, and two months after his beloved cat Sammi crossed Rainbow Bridge the indie icon turned to PAWS Chicago — the same non-profit organization where he adopted Sammi in 2004 and his other feline friend, Mr. Thom, in 2003– in his search for his new purring pals.

The alt rocker recently took to social media to introduce his Twitter followers to calico kitty Angelface and Diamond Baby, a sweet tortoiseshell kitten. Although the pair had both dealt with a rough start in life, with Diamond Baby undergoing a hernia operation and Angelface battling an upper respiratory infection, thanks to the staff and PAWS Chicago today the kittens are lapping up attention from their new famous father as well as their new furry siblings, Mr. Thom and Chin Chin and Ling Ling, two Chocolate Lab/Shar-Pei mixes, The Chicago Tribune reports.

Having raised funds several times over the years to help Chicago’s largest no-kill humane and adoption organization, Billy Corgan is doggedly devoted to the efforts of PAWS Chicago, and visited the rescue’s North Shore Adoption Center in Highland Park to find his two new fur babies. Potential pet parents can also meet PAWS Chicago’s adorable adoptables at the Lincoln Park Adoption Center in Chicago.

Established in 1997, in 2014 alone PAWS Chicago found forever families for 5,952 companion animals.
