After a long, LONG week, we are so happy to report that our 18-month-old Lucky is back home!
Lucky became sick with what we first thought was a UTI; it progressed into high fever, anemia, and more. After days of hospitalization to reduce that fever and raise his red blood cell count, Lucky was finally able to have surgery on Friday to remove numerous bladder stones.
We’re now waiting on both cultures and stone analysis to see where to go from here and to determine what type of diet he needs in the future (right now he’s on the Purina UR Veterinary Diet). There’s some concern that he might have a blood parasite, possibly one that he has had since birth but that lies dormant until his immune system was hit by the bladder and kidney issues. In the meantime, we’re just keeping him quiet and still (which is a challenge…he’s an active little boy!)
Thank you all so much for all your well wishes during this tough week…they meant so much to us!!
