CatTipper continues our look at the winners of Cats Protection’s National Cat Awards, a biennial celebration of our purring pals from across the pond, which took place in early August at London’s Savoy Hotel.
Today we shine a spotlight on Legz, an orange and white tripod tabby who has made himself at home both at London’s Charlotte Despard pub and in the hearts of its patrons.
Adopted from North London Cats Protection by the pub’s landlords, the five-year-old feline is the frequent recipient of cat toys from admiring customers, some who travel great distances to meet the charismatic kitty who loves hip hip and soul music.
Saffron Sprackling of the group Republica, who climbed to the top of the charts with the single “Ready to Go,” stepped into her role as a National Cat Awards judge to choose the winner of the Outstanding Rescue Cat category. The animal advocate, who traveled to Romania in April 2014 with Wetnose Animal Aid to help the country’s dogs in need, said that Legz has “…inspired people to rescue other cats as they can see he is a shining example that a rescue cat brings happiness into people’s lives! He is a true ambassador for rescue cats and Cats Protection!”
The National Cat Awards are presented by Cats Protection, the United Kingdom’s leading feline welfare charity which helps more than 218,000 cats and kittens in need each year at over 250 volunteer-run branches and 31 adoption centers.
