Simon’s Cat Explains Cat Curiosity

simon2-2Continuing to draw attention to the various mannerisms of those who meow, Simon Tofield– creator of the popular cartoon kitty Simon’s Cat— has partnered with Cats Protection‘s Cat Behavior Specialist Nicky Trevorrow for another video in the Cat Logic series to unlock the mystery of why our purring pals feel the need to explore what’s behind a closed door.

The video “Let Me In, Let Me Out!” was inspired by Tofield’s own senior cat, Jess, who has become a velcro cat over the years. As the artist explains, “I think it’s fair to say that if you are a cat owner, you can say goodbye to privacy– because they follow you everywhere.”

It comes as no surprise to pet parents that a cat’s innate curiosity leads a feline to tap into their inner detective. But did you know that a cat will develop particular meows for commands to be let in or out, and that when their human hops up to let a cat in or out of a room it reinforces their behavior? Learn about a cat’s ‘solicitation purr,’ a feline’s superior sense of hearing and more in this comical clip, and check out Simons’ Cat’s other Cat Logic videos “Do Cats Fall in Love?” and “Why Do Cats Have a ‘Crazy Time‘”?
