The Dancing Cat Helps Adoptable Cats in San Jose

Dancing

Update from The Dancing Cat: June 20: Just wanted to let you know that we’ve extended our time in San Jose and will be open through the summer. We’ve had such a wonderful reception by the community here, and have found homes for 17 cats and kittens so far.

Taking steps to find forever families for homeless felines, The Dancing Cat– a pop up ‘cat cafe’ in San Jose– is helping adorable adoptables waltz away from life at the shelter.

Housed inside a refurbished liquor store, cat-loving customers can currently drink in the beauty of the feline-themed atmosphere as they check out meowsterpieces created by local artists, sip coffee, nom on snacks from area bakeries and meet some new purring pals.

The number 13 may reconsidered bad luck by some, but certainly not by the 13 fortunate cats from the San Jose Animal Care Center and Town Cats (Santa Clara County’s only no-kill shelter) who have the opportunity to play in the cage-free environment and lap up attention from patrons the San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Dancing Cat will be open through June 14th, and on May 30th and 31st will be waiving adoption fees as part of Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days. (Note: As with all shelters and rescues who participate in the annual adoption event, the standards by which companion animals will be adopted remain the same as any other day of the year.)

Admission for an hour-long visit: $10 for adults, $5 for children under the age of 10 (The price of admission will be applied to a visitor’s adoption fee if a customer decides to welcome one of the cats into their heart and home.)

When: May 21 – June 14, 2015 Closed on Monday and Tuesday

Where: 702 East Julian Street in San Jose, California
