Over the course of his career in comedy, Ricky Gervais has won BAFTA, Golden Globe and Emmy awards, and he’s won the hearts of animal lovers for his concern for paws causes.
Having used his star wattage to illuminate such issues as breeding farms, rabies prevention in areas of the world where vaccinations are not readily available and the behind the scenes horrors in the world of greyhound racing, the creator of The Office is now helping to focus the public’s attention on our feline friends.
Speaking out for the 500 cats who are currently receiving care and compassion from RSPCA branches and centers in south-east England, Gervais— a proud pet parent to a Siamese named Ollie– voiced his support for the animal welfare organization’s appeal to find forever homes for the felines:
“I would encourage everyone who can, to think about adopting a cat from the RSPCA.
There are cats and kittens that are really crying out for a good home.”
