As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.
– J.K. Rowling
I think this is the most difficult post I’ve ever written so it will be short. Two weeks ago, Ochi began a decline that, even with numerous vet visits and medications, did not turn around. Yesterday she was referred to a specialty vet; blood tests and an ultrasound revealed a blood cancer that had impacted all her major organs. The vet said there was no hope; even putting her through a transfusion would prolong her life only days or weeks. And so we said goodbye.
Ochi was just 16 months old; this Wednesday will be one-year anniversary of her adoption from Austin Pets Alive’s Ringworm Ward.
We are heartbroken.
